Donald J. Trump Supports Article V
What shall we call them? “The Trump Amendments”?
Did America put our beloved constitution to the shredder by electing Donald J. Trump as our 45th President? When Donald trump took the oath of office and was sworn in as the President of the United States, he swore to:
“Faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend, the Constitution of the United States.”
That means it is the sworn duty of President Donald J. Trump to “preserve, protect, and defend” Article V of the United States Constitution. Likewise the same holds true for our vice president, every member of congress, and the supreme court to uphold the constitution and call for a convention of states for the purpose of proposing amendments to the constitution that will then be submitted to the states for ratification.
The only begging question is If the Article V Constitutional trigger is pulled by the required “application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states” (34 ) Congress is then required under Article V “shall call a convention for proposing amendments,” is this: Will the constitution as we now know it survive? Will our country survive?
Article V Of the United States Constitution:
“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.”
Some fear if this were to happen and a Convention took place it would result in a runaway convention and the constitution could be put to the shredder as they believe was done to the “Articles of Confederation”. Others feel now is the time the people and their state legislatures need to take action and call for an Article V convention of states to reign in the powers of the federal government.
Considering some of the recent violence that has taken place in recent years around the country along with the tensions and hostility that’s taken place during this past presidential campaign. Along with the violence, arson, vandalism and destruction property that took place in our capital during President Trump’s inauguration ceremony and the protests and celebrations that followed. I must say it’s troublesome when I consider whether it’s a good thing/ idea at this time or a bad thing/idea at a bad time, or ask myself: is it even a safe to do so now? Could Americans pull together and unite? Or would there be bigger stronger division within our society and worse protests and violence in our streets.
THIS IS HUGE
It is not a decision to be taken lightly by no means. The article v constitutional convention of states trigger has never been pulled throughout our nation’s history. This makes me wonder how history might have unfolded had the states used Article V prior to the civil war. Would millions of American lives have been saved? One can only wonder.
There are a huge number of variables and unanswered questions regarding the who’s what’s, Why’s, and how’s, of such an enormously important and historic event; let alone the impact and effect it would have on we the people, and our nation and governmental structure as a whole should a convention take place.
I wanted to introduce this subject as I hope and plan to write a number of posts on this topic and wanted to invite all that are curious and/or informed on this matter to ask questions and/or answers questions, share your thoughts, feelings, fears hopes concerns etc. etc . I’m hoping to get a good civil dialog going and would love to hear the views and feelings of my fellow countrymen/women.
I hope you all come along and join in the conversation.
Peace to all
Till my next post.
